N.C.C. a centrally sponsored scheme was introduced in 1948 with the aim of developing character, discipline, leadership, secular outlook, spirit of adventure and ideals of selfless service among the youth of the country. It functions under the Ministry of Defence, Government of India. The scheme prepares students for responsible citizenship and motivates them to take up careers in the Armed Forces and other services, thereby contributing to nation building.
Aims: The overall aim of the scheme is to "Develop Character, Comradeship, Discipline, Leadership, Secular Outlook, Spirit of Adventure and the Ideal of Selfless Service among the Youth of the Country" and to "Create a Trained and Motivated Youth Population to Provide Leadership in All Walks of Life".
Objective: The main objective of the scheme is the "Development of Personality, Discipline and Leadership Qualities of Students through Military Training and Community Service".
Cardinal Principle: The cardinal principle of NCC programme is that it is "Unity and Discipline" which inculcates a sense of responsibility, patriotism and national integration among the cadets.
Classification of Activities: There are two kinds of activities namely
Regular NCC Activities: Under this programme, cadets undergo regular training such as drill, weapon training, physical training, map reading, field craft, first aid and leadership development during parade hours as per NCC syllabus. Cadets are required to complete a prescribed number of training hours in accordance with NCC training guidelines issued by the Directorate General NCC.
Institutional Training: Includes parade training, drill, weapon handling,
physical fitness, leadership training and classroom instructions conducted within the
institution.
Social Service & Community Development: Cadets participate in social service
activities such as Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, blood donation camps, tree plantation,
awareness programmes and community welfare activities.
Adventure Training: Activities such as trekking, mountaineering, rock climbing,
cycling expeditions and sailing camps aimed at developing courage, confidence and
teamwork.
Natural Calamities & National Emergencies: Cadets assist civil authorities during
floods, earthquakes, cyclones and other emergencies by providing relief, rescue and
rehabilitation support.
National Programmes: Cadets take part in programmes like Republic Day Camp,
Independence Day celebrations, national integration camps and youth exchange
programmes as directed by NCC authorities.
Special Camping Programme: Under this, various camps such as Annual Training Camps (ATC), Combined Annual Training Camps (CATC), National Integration Camps (NIC) and Republic Day Camps (RDC) are conducted. These camps aim at intensive training and character building among cadets.
NCC Unit: Our College consists of an NCC unit functioning under the prescribed strength and guidelines of the NCC Directorate. Units are established with prior approval of the Government and NCC authorities.
Enrolment in NCC: Any regular student of plus two classes or degree courses who meets the prescribed physical and medical standards can apply for enrolment in NCC. A student cannot be enrolled in NSS, NSO, Scouts & Guides simultaneously with NCC.
Cadet: Code of Conduct: A cadet shall strictly follow discipline, obey lawful commands of superiors, maintain proper turnout, uphold the dignity of the uniform, respect seniors and peers, participate actively in training and maintain records as prescribed by NCC authorities.
NCC Certificate: Cadets are awarded and Certificates upon successful completion of training, examinations and camps as prescribed by NCC. Outstanding cadets may be awarded medals, honors and given preference for higher education and recruitment in Defence and Paramilitary services.
